Flax is an annual plant that grows to a height of 40 to 91cm. The life cycle of the flax plant consists of a 45 to 60 day vegetative period, a 15 to 25 day flowering period and a maturation period of 30 to 40 days. There are 12 distinct growth stages(GS) in the development of a flax plant.

Flax is a blue flowering crop. Flower opening begins shortly after sunrise on clear, warm days and petals are shed in the early afternoon
